Finally, the long wait for the IPL season 14 is over. The last season, which went online due to the pandemic, couldn’t give the taste and real excitement of cricket. The opening match for the season will be playing between the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), on 09 April 2021 at the Country’s capital, Delhi. Cricket fans worldwide are anticipating the best and the return of the cricket fever this season.
As usual, MI teams is led by Rohit Sharma and are ready to twist any storm and obstacles coming in their way, with the team packed with hard-hitters and a solid pack of death bowlers.
Mumbai Indians Retained Players
Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (WK), Chris Lynn, Anmolpreet Singh, Saurabh Tiwary, Aditya Tare, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Anukul Roy, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohsin Khan
Mumbai Indians New Players
Adam Milne, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Piyush Chawla, James Neesham, Yudhvir Charak, Marco Jansen, Arjun Tendulkar.
Among the newly sign-up players, Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile is the costlier one. The fast bowler was bought with a whopping price of Rupees 5 Crore, and he could help MI have the hat-trick this season.
Looking at the Strength of Mumbai Indians
The best side of MI is its batting power. The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock is the best combination of the team. If the situation demands, the Australian Hitter Christ Lynn can fill the gap anytime. Other important batsman includes Suryamkar Yadav and Ishan Kishan who performed well in their debut matches. All-rounders, Pandya brothers and Keiron Pollard makes a very strong middle-order batsman.
From the bowling side, death over specialist and India’s finest fast bowler Jusprit Bumrah and New Zealand’s fast bowler Trent Boult formed the formidable part. The recent inclusion of Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile may prove lethal to the opponent team.
The Weak Part
The weakest part of the MI is its spin department with little option of change. However, Mumbai has experienced leg-spinner Piyush Chawla who holds the record of third-highest wicket-taker in the league’s history with 156 wickets, Krunal, Rahul Chahar and Jayant Yadav. Off-spinner Jayant Yadav played only two matches in the last season, and it may be a little tough to say how many games he will get in this match. Sometimes Krunal and Chahar may continue in the match, and in such case, Piyush has to wait on the bench.
The Answer to the Hat-Trick for Mumbai Indian
If Mumbai Indians has to lift the Hat-Trick IPL season 14 title, their hard-hitter opener must play good cricket and score more runs. The West Indies all-rounder Keiron Pollard must play the role of the bowler and a hitter as the situation demands. If they choose for fielding, their bowling department has to play a big role. For the batting line-up, if one of the openers happens to fall quick, then the number two batmans has to show his skill and play calm so that the middle order could play easy cricket.
