It has been a year since COVID-19 came among us and it still continues to spread. COVID-19 doesn’t know who is rich and poor and has no caste and creed. With the winding up of election fever in Manipur, recently the chief minister of Manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh was also infected with the dreadful virus COVID-19. Even though there is an SOP for everyone to be follwed for prevention and further spreading of the corona, there was a huge wave of the election in Manipur. People seemed to forget the current pandemic and breach the SOP. As a result, there has been a sudden spike of COVID-19 in and around the places where elections were conducted.
Manipur’s Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar said on Friday “There will be night curfew from 6 PM to 4 AM and District Magistrates will issue orders in the regard .”
In order to prevent or check the spread of COVID-19, the BJP-led Biren’s government imposed a night curfew in Manipur from 6 PM to 4 AM till 31 December or till further notice.
Know the exemption during the Night Curfew in Manipur
- Movement of essential services, goods trucks, and officials on duty shall be exempted.
- Medical-related services like hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, dispensaries, and pharmacies shall be exempted from the said curfew.
- There will be a restriction on social and customary ceremonies or gatherings and the number of persons allowed to attend at a time is limited to 20.
- There will be a roster system for the opening of shops in the Thangal and Paona areas except for the wholesale shops.
